I have been staring at a few books that just don’t make sense for quite some time now.  They aren’t Quantum Physics or anything, just mismatched craziness.  The problem is I can’t throw them out.  One is a Barbie chronicle that any girl who grew up with Barbies would cherish like their first born….maybe.  One is a St. Louis landmark book, and one is a Ripley’s believe it or not book with a super fancy 3-d cover.  None of them are very “pretty” per say but I love looking through their pages and learning.

You caught a glimpse of them in this post.  And I was so embarrassed of their mis-matchedness that I actually hid them in this post.

I finally decided to do something about it.
Super fast, super easy project comin atcha… wallpaper your books You want to know how easy this was?
I walked downstairs and dug out some pretty scrapbook paper and the I just made simple bookcovers.  Twenty minutes tops.

Now I can just sit and stare at my pretty books.

Which brings me to my next point…I am so happy that publishers have started making book covers almost art-like.  All of the books I have bought recently are gorgeous enough on their own I will never have to wallpaper books again.  I’m not hating on Barbie and Mr. Ripley, ok maybe I am. the change up Have you bought any pretty books lately?  Ever dressed up your library?

Now that we are all coming back from our sugar cookie comas and starting to really bust into some of those awesome gifts you received – hello new pots and pans – it is time to show your gratitude.

I will never get tired of snail mail.

It just seems so much more personal and genuine.
Please don’t text your Aunt Dorothy your “thank-yous”.

Instead, give her some sass and sparkle.
Here are my favorite ways to show your appreciation. merci gratzi gracious 1234567891011121314

I don’t sew.
I think you should know that.

It’s not that I don’t want to…
I just happen to be terrible at it.

So when I got the idea to make our living room curtains, I was pretty much shaking in my slippers.  Because let’s be honest…I was totally in my pjs when I schemed this up.

Then I made these.

We wanted something unique to dress up our living room windows but with a lot of crazy pillows, a bright rug, and eventually a pretty colorful coffee table…we needed something pretty and neutral.

I have been loving the big stripes on our living room wall so I had the genius idea to mirror them on the windows with some burlap & lace.

Once I got to the fabric store, I was paralyzed in fear looking at the two fabrics and wondering how I was going to pull this off.  I talked to the poor associates until they made up fake emergencies to escape, then I decided against burlap and against sewing.  I chose a gorgeous natural looking fabric than would be easier to work with and bought all of the “iron on” adhesives I could carry.

Once I got home I started all of my measurements to make sure my lines would perfectly mirror the lines on the wall. Then I dove right in.

Y’all I was so excited when I finished that first panel.

I made curtains.

I hung it up to make sure the hem tape wouldn’t crumble under pressure.
Then I excitedly ironed the heck out of two more panels.

For the lace I sprayed the aerosol adhesive and ironed it on using wax paper.
Easy as buying a Honey Baked Ham for Christmas.

Then I threw those bad boys up.
Whomp…whomp….whomp.

In an effort to keep it real with you all, I am showing you how completely crooked those stripes are.  I added the blue panels to try and break them up so that maybe you wouldn’t notice the sideways-ness…but who am I trying to fool.

It is a big fat fail.

On the bright side the lace look so incredibly pretty during the day with the sun shining through.

From certain angles it is less noticeable.

I do think that I could salvage them by pulling off the lace and trying them again, but I am being lazy and seeing how much they bother me for now.

Do you think I could ever get the lace completely even?
Should I try a “do-over”?
Or am I making up the crookedness…ha!

Any other creative suggestions….I’m down.
