Sad....

Posted by Christina // 4 Replies

I interrupt our regularly scheduled post to take a moment to be thankful.

Thankful that I woke up today.  I woke up with a roof over my head, food in the pantry, water readily available, a choice of what shoes to wear, and most importantly…everyone I love woke up too.

All of this killing, the blatant disregard for life saddens my heart.  So many people in the world would give anything to have a fraction of what we don’t even take the time to be thankful for.

I won’t get into the politics.  I refuse to, because politics have nothing to do with it.  I just wanted to share a quote that I heard a few months ago that sort of changed my life.

“What if we woke up today, with only what we thanked God for yesterday.”

I hope you will take a moment to be thankful for all the good in your life.

Tim and I made a technically “rash” decision tonight.  So I don’t leave you completely in the dark it has to do with a big purchase and our health.  Let the video be another clue but that’s a whole different story.

On the way home, we started discussing my love of car dancing.

Like my buddy Sarah, I have a serious affection for car karaoke and moving my body.  As much as I can dance at least while restrained by a seat belt.  Safety first.

Tim had the meager suggestion that I should make a whole series of car dancing videos…and be famous you know.  Because once the world saw these moves I would blow up like Bieber, or so the story in my head goes.

Which reminded me of one of my all time favorite videos.  I am pretty sure that most people have run into this gloriousness at some point, but just in case you haven’t I am declaring it my official Friday Favorite.  Enjoy.

I am dying to see someone on the street prancercising.  I imagine it would be like that scene in Forrest Gump where everyone starts joining and following them cross-country while air-boxing.

If twerking is more your style, bust out your notepad and google Miley’s VMA performance.  Or just watch this, which can not be done in the car.

I feel like I need cliff notes for that.

Are you an avid car dancer?
How much would someone have to pay you to prancercise?
Whatcha doing this weekend?

Sweet summers of yore....

Posted by Christina // 8 Replies

Summers always feel nostalgic for me.  Carnivals, snow cones, running through sprinklers, the smell of citronella, swimming, and long lazy days always take me right back to my childhood.

There is so much that I miss about those summers, but these are the things I long for the most.  Minus the three month break from school. childhood summers So earlier this week I tried a few.  The watermelon was tasty, the popsicles were messy, the tree climbing was way harder than I remember.  I reminisced about all the hours spent on my bike (I still ride the same one I rode as a kiddo).

Who is hoarding all the kickballs?  I couldn’t find a one, although after a bike ride and a failed attempt at climbing a tree…I can’t say I looked too hard.

I also forgot how when you grab the hose to drink from, the water comes out boiling hot for the first couple seconds.  Oh hey third degree mouth burns.  Can’t call that enjoyable, but hey once the water chilled down it was just as tasty as I remembered.  I might hold onto that one and call it a habit.

The only thing I couldn’t get to was Capture the Flag.  Couldn’t find enough players ahem willing participants.  Anyone wanna play?  Meet ya at the park in ten, I’ll grab my bike.

What do you miss from childhood summers?
Have you climbed a tree lately?
Have you tried the watermelon Oreos?

Tim wants me to mention that he begged me to change my graphic to “Anyone have a time machine?” but I said I gots to do what I gots to do dude.  He knows proper English, but I am too gangster for all that.

Since the last three days have been a whirlwind of squeals and happiness…I have started thinking about all the things that make me giddy in life.  Tim always says that one of his favorite things about me is how excited I get over the “little things” although he hates it when we are driving and I gasp over a sale at Pier 1 Imports. Bring on summer...mantles

Posted by Christina // 9 Replies

I love decorating our mantle for the holidays and seasons, mainly because it’s small enough to not feel overwhelmed but in a spot that makes the whole house feel festive.  In other words, it’s my lazy way of decking the halls.

Thanks to Danielle’s Craft with What Ya Got Challenge, I was challenged and inspired to make lots of bright DIY’s with the help of paint chips and this tutorial.

Now my mantel looks like our own little lemonade stand!  My favorite is the little quote that says, “If life hands you lemons make lemonade, if that doesn’t work add vodka”.  I think I will make that my summer mantra. a sweet summer mantle little mantle details paint chip projects dont mind the shadows Just like every time I do a mantle post I have to apologize for our crazy fish tank lighting and awesome shadows.  One day my photography skills will be good enough to compensate, I promise.

Have you been doing any summer decorating?
Have you made any fun paint chip crafts?
Want some tasty lemonade?  With vodka?
