Make Monday Matter....five

Posted by Christina // 10 Replies

This week is a little near and dear to my heart.

I also think it is perfect for anyone that was going strong on their New Years resolutions, but Super Bowl maybe crushed the whole “I am eating so great these pounds better fall of soon” dreams.

And by the way, for anyone that HAS kept their resolutions going strong…
where is our parade?
Seriously, I have not had a soda or a fingernail since 2012 and I think that deserves a blimp and marching band or something.

Stepping off the soapbox now.
I don’t like to share this often but it’s been a part of my life for a few years now.

I have high blood pressure.

It runs in the family, but my love of Mexican food doesn’t help.
I have tried to get it under control without medication for quite sometime, and I am doing well but I really want it to be super-extra-ultra good before I try to do the whole let’s-grow-a-human-inside-of-me thing.  Don’t get excited mom, we still have a few years.  I figure I better start now.

A lot of health issues face me in my future, and as I get a little older everyday I realize I need to take action now.  Bring on the veggies. monday matter I know it is really easy to run to Taco Bell for dinner when you busy.
Trust me, I know.

Let’s make a deal….no Taco Bell tonight okay.

shockers I mean, I am sure we all know that America is known as obesity capital of the world.  But did you know that we spend $66 billion annually for high blood pressure.  I gotta say, I don’t want to be a part of that. take action Let’s do this.  I am here for you mmmkay.

What did you see/read that mentioned a more plant-focused diet would help with blood pressure? Just curious, not getting all critical. I want to see/read it too! (In case you didn’t know, I don’t eat meat).

I believe in you! You can do it! Fruit My Cube should do veggies too. Propose that to them! 🙂

Actually, I got that from talking to my doctor. He basically told me, if it doesn’t rot in less than three to five days then I shouldn’t be eating it. The funny thing is I started eating fruit like crazy and guess what….I gained weight! Didn’t think about all the sugar I was taking in 🙂

I have started trying to eat more veggies after talking to a nutritionist friend of mine. You can find lots of lists of foods that help and hurt in trying to lower blood pressure. Sweet Tim has about three diffrent lists printed out and posted on the fridge for me 🙂

And actually Fruit my Cube has a “market crate” that has a lot of veggies in it and I have been trying to buy that more. I just wish they had a smaller “snack pack” of veggies. I should ask about that huh 🙂

Hahahaha yes…that list is piling up.

Yea Tim is too good to me, when I told him I had gone to the doctor and it was back up he was so sweet…helping me watch my salt intake and FORCING me to go walking 🙂 It has helped a whole bunch though so I am thankful!!!

First of all, congrats on your accomplishments thus far, no soda and no fingernails (literally made me laugh out loud, by the way) is fantastic!!! I think this is great little reminder that we should all take an extra minute to get in our veggies and think more about what we put in our bodies which I apparently could use considering the only that I consumed yesterday that wasn’t fried was beer. Gotta love super bowl sunday.

Hahaha, yea I was SURE I would break down and have a soda yesterday…but I stayed strong. I did slip up once because I went to a friends house and she automatically made me a 7&7. But that was a happy accident 🙂

I made up for the no soda yesterday with buffalo dip 😉
