A merry mantle and free printables....

Posted by Christina // 12 Replies

This weekend we took advantage of our free time and did some decorating.

Just a heads up…we can never get the lighting quite right on mantle shots.  That has nothing to do with the giant fish tank sitting right across from it, or the fact that it gets zilch in the form of natural light.  Did I say nothing?  I meant everything….it’s my “problem child” as far as photos go.

I have always been a big fan of the free printable, but rarely do you find exactly what you are looking for.  So this year, I got brave.

I made my own.

If you hate them and think they’re hideous, well it was my first try.
But if you actually like them….then you can have them.

I am offering up some free festivus for you all.

Just click the “download” button right above.
Then click on the “Christmas Printables” link on the next page.

Then you can chose the one you want and print or save.  If you get all crafty with these bad boys, make sure you send photos.  I will be like your gramma and gush over your craftiness.  Then I might pinch your cheeks.

If you need help, feel free to ho-ho-holler.

Thanks!!! Hahaha…I don’t mind the glow. It is the having to crouch on the ground to get a picture without a glare on the glass of the frame that makes me all sweaty. And do you see the difference in color from the stenciled wall to the mantel wall…they are the same color haha. Let’s pretend that it is just really good practice haha!

One day I will have to do a post on when our lights have a thunderstorm, it is like a rave in our dining room!!!

Yeah I had no idea those walls were the same color.

I think Michael’s has some fancypants anti-glare glass for their custom framing and I wish this was more readily available in normal photo frames. Should’ve had Tim take a behind-the-scenes shot of you trying to photograph the mantle. haha! 🙂

They look totally different right?!?!? That is in person too, it is so weird.

I have heard of that glass, and last year I made Tim’s Christmas present and almost ordered it from a framing shop but it was so expensive! I hadn’t tried Micheals yet, thanks for the heads up 🙂

It is a hoot trying to get those pictures, sometimes I make Tim stand in front of the tank with a giant blanket!!! We are our own two person circus haha

Soooo pretty! I love your mantle decorations! And despite the somewhat purple haze over the pictures ( have you tried correcting the white balance in software?) I just think they’re lovely. I still have to start on my Christmas decorations… Love your printables too.

This is awesome! I stumbled across your site a little bit ago and really like what you have to say and now I’m even more in love with your mantel! Could I ask where you got those awesome red candles and white candle stick holders? I’ve never seen pure white ones like that before…love them and your printables are pretty great too! Who doesn’t love Elf? 🙂

Hey Lydia!!! So happy you stumbled upon us…and THANK YOU for being so sweet 🙂

I found both the candles and the candle sticks at Garden Ridge around this time last year. The candles are flameless and they were on sale so they might be discontinued but I think you could find red candles and maybe diy some glitter awesomeness on them!

Hope you have a great Christmas!!!

Aw shoot, you’re probably right about them not being available anymore. I’m not sure how much glitter and I get along in DIY projects but I might just try it and let you know 😉 I like the idea of the flameless candle though so I might have to search for some more. Which of the craft stores would you say you get the best finds or deals at? Maybe I’ll just stock up on a bunch of stuff right after Christmas for next year 😀 lol Hope you have a happy Christmas too!

That is my plan too! I love the day after bargains!!!!

I would say for flameless you can get great deals at Hobby Lobby (look online for coupons) and probably Target or Walmart. If you do a little DIY I would love to see photos 🙂
