Meanwhile in Illinois....

Posted by Christina // 7 Replies

During our short jaunt up to Chicago for the YHL book tour we decided to stop by this little store we have heard about a time or two.

Yea you heard right, we had never been to Ikea…but we fixed that right up.

Even though we had been up for way too many hours, and I had gone all giddy crazy meeting the Petersik’s we still made room for some Swedish lovin.

We gave ourselves a $100 budget and only an hour to shop.
Hey, we are broke and had to get home before the energy drink wore off.

Most people would think that was crazy, and it was.

Holy speed shopping.

Every single person we told that we were going to Ikea said that we absolutely must get the Swedish meatballs.  And ice cream, definitely ice cream.

They were tasty indeed.
Do they cater for Christmas?  To St. Louis?

I of course loved all the pretty, Tim was shocked and thrilled with the prices.
So in short, we had more fun than a toddler on a teeter-totter.

We did make our time limit and got back on the road by 4p.m. to make the long trek home.  The budget on the other hand, we blew by a measley $18.

We bought simple white dishes and lots of white frames so we can get crackin on that living room frame wall.  I can not wait to show you all.

I know we said we want to add more flava and color in our lives, but we figure those are staples and can be spiced up with lots of colorful napkins and art.  Am I right?

Now where can I start a petition to get Ikea in the Lou?

I am so jealous I want to go to Ikea so bad. There is a petion on FB to put an Ikea in the chysler plant but I don’t think it’s happening. They are supposed to be building one in KC. So that will be a little closer.

Yea, I saw that they chose KC over St. Louis and I was super bummed. But at least it is now in driving distance…and you can visit your brother! It was pretty awsesome, I wish we would have had more time there for sure. That just means we have to go back right 😉

You had never been to Ikea?? O wow… 🙂 Actually I don’t even know how famous or common Ikea is in the US but here it is very common to go to Ikea if you need just about anything… If I look around my office just about all the furniture comes from ikea! Lol… I love going there when it is not too crowded as it can get pretty crazy here but it’s worth it!

Hey Simone! It is pretty huge here…but since there isn’t one in our area we just fawn over all their catalogs and the internet pictures. I wish we lived closer to one because I would go just for the meatballs 🙂

It was super busy when we went, but I am not sure if that was because it was a Saturday or if it is always just packed!

Hey girl hey! Ohmygosh do you know you just made my day!!! I pretty much thought everyone at the window could see how much I was geeking out and would think I was a total weirdo haha. I hope you were at least in the covered area instead of the rain…you all are the super fans seriously…I was scared of the thunder inside a dang brick building haha!!!!

Our shark egg has no due date, mainly because we don’t really know what we are doing. Wish us luck….please 🙂

Can I keep the nickname Green Sweater Girl? It makes me feel like a superhero haha!!! Thanks for visiting Wendy…much love.
