When my sister went away to college, she packed up a plain old cork board.
While she saw a place to pin all the digits boys slip her, I saw opportunity for jazzing up the basic. I took her cork board back home with me and nearly two semesters later, I jazzed it up. The best part is that this was super easy, and cheap when you have coupons and sales galore. I hit up Hobby Lobby during a fabric sale and picked up some colorful fabric, decorative tacks and that sweet wooden letter. All of the supplies including extra hot glue gun sticks cost a whopping $10. If you have a coupon you could score the cork board on the cheap too. Then turn on your favorite Housewives show and get to work. The hardest part was putting the tacks in straight and without breaking my thumb. I know there are lots of tutorials on how to keep the tacks straight, and I am sure you could use a small hammer to spare your thumb. I am not that “put-together” but you totally can be. To secure the fabric I just hot glued the back of the board with the fabric pulled super tight, and don’t be cheap with the glue. Really slather it on there. Same goes for the wooden letter, pretty it up and then glue that sucker on.
Have you made anything fun lately?
Reason #482 to move to STL: You have a Hobby Lobby. I’ve never even stepped foot in one but I hear it’s magical. I think there’s one about 40 mins away from where I live so maybe I’ll have to make the trek some day.
Anywho, I am crazy-in-love with that fabric. Do you happen to know the name?? And what’s the blue/teal object it’s sitting on for the photos? Cuz I love me some of that. Gah. You rock!
Ohhhhh girl….you should OPEN a Hobby Lobby Franchise up in your neck of the woods. You’d be rich!!!! It is a wonderful place full of prettiness and deals. Can’t be beat haha.
I will find out the name of the fabric for ya, I don’t know right now but I will look next time I go to Hobby Lobby. The bookshelf it is sitting on is right here http://homemadeocean.com/2012/10/the-that-is-so-much-better-bookcase/
Finally, yes….I will help you unpack 🙂
Did you ever find out the name of the fabric?
Sure did….sorry I thought I responded!!! It is “Marva – Panorama” in Lollipop. I am going to email you a photo of the label, hope that helps 🙂
I like the board, I may have to do that one weekend. Love the blog, great choice of colors.

That board is so easy, you should totally make one. Send me pictures if you do 🙂
