It’s finally Friday…hopefully this weekend all of our projects won’t get rained out.

If they do, then I will be spending my day browsing Arcadia Graphic’s Etsy shop.  These prints and posters are sure to leave a smile on your face.  As I scrolled through her shop the prints just kept getting better and better.  If you can read these and not crack a smile, well then I am impressed. arcadia graphic My favorite is probably the Llama, but it is hard to choose just one!  I think the tent would be perfect on our “adventure” frame wall.  If I ever actually get to it.

In other blog greatness… caitlin wilson Clearly I love all things nautical but Caitlin Wilson just sends me overboard with all of her gorgeous textiles.  I love the bright colors, I adore all the anchors, I need it all. all that glitters Speaking of sea loves…someone convince me that this girl is not a mermaid.  I need a gold dress and a beach astat, and maybe liposuction or something.  I just think this is one of those dreamy pictures that I wish I was in. lovely indeed Timothy loves The Princess Bride, and the first time he forced me to watch it he kept repeating this line.  I knew as soon as I showed it to him he would want it printed and on the wall immediately, I was correct.  You can print yours too by visiting Lovely Indeed.  That girl always has cute freebies. vitamini handmade Who knew a fan could capture my heart.  It is just so sweet and vintage looking and makes me want to go spray paint crazy.

What “good things” did you find this week?
Have you seen The Princess Bride?
Who else likes to pretend they are a mermaid?

Since the last three days have been a whirlwind of squeals and happiness…I have started thinking about all the things that make me giddy in life.  Tim always says that one of his favorite things about me is how excited I get over the “little things” although he hates it when we are driving and I gasp over a sale at Pier 1 Imports. My twenty-seventh birthday will go down in history.

All I asked for was a duck.

Instead, my boyfriend gave me the gift of knowing that I get to kiss him everyday for the rest of our lives. he asked and i said yes I get to marry my best friend.

I have smiled the biggest, glowy, cheese ball smile for the last two days.  Let me tell you all about it.

Christina’s story:  Talk about a surprise.  Sweet Tim knew that I would not be suspicious of a romantic night out if it was for my birthday.  He took me out for my favorite dinner and even let me order the dang lobster dinner.  He pacified me as I talked about the newest Kardashian and laughed at me when I burned all my taste buds off.  He was so cool, calm and collected I never gave any thought to this being anything more than a birthday dinner.  Tim knows me, he knows that I don’t do terribly well with surprises and I pretty much despise being in the limelight.  This was not the place.

Tim had a plan, a cute duck with a ring around its neck.  Who knew ducks would be so hard to come by this time of year.  So then he considered Asti and quickly decided a vet X-ray would not be a very romantic proposal.  Plan B was a lovely fire and a bottle of wine.  Then it poured.  St. Louis was under flash flood warning and even though he tried to convince me that “he could totally make a fire with swamp wood”.  I just stood over him drinking my wine and commenting on all the projects we need to tackle this weekend.  While staring DIY in the eye he decided we needed to take the party inside.

This is where my obliviousness comes into play.  Tim begged me to let him make a fire.  We could curl up by the fireplace and finish our wine and stare into each others eyes or something.  I should have seen where it was going…instead I convinced him that he would be all dirty and it probably wouldn’t even start and I mean it is summer so we really shouldn’t be heating our house.  Oblivious.  Instead I drag him onto our couch and beg him for presents, because that’s just the kind of gal I am.

This is where I tell you how awesome T is for getting me the phone case I wanted.  He is awesome.  Playing it so cool.  I am still hopelessly clueless re-charging my phone.  Then he starts teasing me.  “Asti, mama has another gift huh?” he says.  “Should we give her the other gift, I’m not sure she will like this one” he says.  “Wanna watch some TV?” he says.  Fast forward to me on hands and knees begging for another present, keeping my fingers crossed for that little chirping snugglebun.

In strolls Timothy.  Hands behind his back.  “Put your hands out” is all he says.  I listen intently for chirping, got nothing….then I fear the worst….he got me worms.  After a small panic attack, I refuse and he simply says, “then just turn around”.  I always do as I am told.  When I turned back around that little ninja had taken a knee.  Right about here my mind goes blank.  I can’t remember a thing.  I am told I made a funny hand gesture that led T to believe I was saying “no”.

He had a spiel, but apparently I jumped in his arms so fast that all he got out was “Christina Renee, you are the love” and tackled.  Then there were lots of kisses and smiles and “oh myyyy gosh”s.  Then it happened, then he told me the story. the ring This ring, this beautiful ring, was the ring that Tim’s grandpa gave his grandma after returning from WWII.  When Tim and I met, we had some major bonding over the love we had for our grandparents so I know how important and special this is to him.  I have never had anything so precious to me in my life, a little treasure.  Cue the tears.  Yes, there was lots and lots of ugly crying.  The kind that chokes your airway off and snot bubbles become a real possibility.  Why does this guy want to marry me again?  I’m stumped.

After a good thirty minutes of tears and kissing, I composed myself for this gem. we are excited Pure happiness.

Tim’s story:  I asked, she said yes.  Thank goodness.

Now the real fun begins!  Any tips?  Advice?  Please don’t tell Tim to run.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  You sure know how to make a girl feel warm and fuzzy.  You da, you da best.

Speaking of the best…I have so many things I am gushing over lately.  With the weather turning and T wanting to spend more time outdoors, it finally feels like a new season.  The season of beach towels and mosquitoes, here are some of my June favorites. hers 1.  I go through sunglasses like Miss Swift goes through boyfriends.  I love the dainty, vintage, “bug-eyed” sunglasses of yore.  These are just my style, until I lose them.  Or sit on them.  Or Asti steals them.

2.  Ohhhh beach towels, my summer weakness.  I am a little particular when it comes to my beach towels.  I like them very long and extra wide, enough to wrap around me twice.  I like them soft and plush, colorful and fun.  This one meets all of those requirements and more.

3.  This facewash showed up in my Birchbox a couple of months ago, I recently put it in the shower and started using it every couple of days.  Wow.  My face is so soft and all those stupid little bumps that aren’t quite zits are disappearing.  I even talked T into trying it, and now we have to throw down for a jumbo quart of it.  I hope they make it that big!

4.  Tis the season right?  This summer I finally got an aloe plant.  I have very fond memories of my gramma slathering aloe straight from her plant on all my boo-boos and sunburns.  I thought it was time I had a plant of my own.  Gramma would be proud.

5.  Mosquitoes love me.  Seriously, if there is a blood-sucker within a twenty-foot radius….they try to eat me alive.  So if you guess that my summer perfume has a hint of citronella you’d be spot on.  These candles are adorable, don’t come in a bright yellow tin, and keep the bugs away.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

6.  Gwynnie Bee is an online clothing rental company for girls that have some curves.  I love wearing dresses and hate buying them because I think you can only wear them ever so often.  Now black pants…I can wear those every single day without anyone noticing.  My kelly green wrap dress, not-so-much.  I love that they have so many options, and that they are flattering when you aren’t a size 2.  Not hating on you teeny girls, you rock those cute dresses that my boobs won’t fit in!  On top of having cute clothes delivered to your door, they even let you try the service for a month.  My month is almost up and I am seriously bumming!

Take it away Timbo…. HIS 1.  Christina’s mom got her a huge bag of fruit tootsies, and I have been chowing down.  I told her I was just checking to make sure they are all fresh.

2.  Ever since my girlfriend made me switch out a few of our lights for CFLs I have been changing them out left and right.  When we go to Lowe’s I pick up a pack and try switching out one room at a time.

3.  One day we grabbed a bottle of this pre-made margarita from Costco and now it is our go-to summer drink.  No more measuring out the alcohol and having a sticky mess while pouring shots.  Not to mention that after a cup or two of this, you will be feeling pretty loose.

4.  With all the yard work we have done, this pickaxe has become my go-to tool.  The previous owners of our home had an affection for rock and concrete, and thanks to them I am getting some serious muscles.

5.  My favorite hat.  I have had it forever and still love it.

6.  Christina sent me this article from Single Dad Laughing.  This guy is hilarious, and it is nice to find other bloggers on my side of the gender fence.  Would you believe that I never read blogs until I met Christina.

7.  I really want a bike.  I really want to cut some trails.  I really want to be outside.  I really need a helmet.

What have you all been digging this month?

We had such high hopes this weekend…such big plans.  Instead, we just sat at the window watching the rain wash away our big-project plans.  I hope your weekend was more fun and less wet than ours.  Maybe you were sipping Mojitos on the beach, and if you were why didn’t you bring us with you?

Today’s challenge seems like just a nice gesture, but there’s a bigger picture. MONDAY 24 Get this, sounds is measured in decibels (dBA) and of course there are different levels.  Normal conversation is about 60 dBA unless you are laughing with Fran Drescher.  That noisy restauraunt will run you about 85 dBA.  Your car horn is typically around 110 dBA.  At 110 dBA, the maximum exposure time is 1 minute and 29 seconds before hearing damage occurs.

Yea, you can damage people’s hearing with car horns.  We have all heard that hearing loss is starting younger and younger, thanks in part to blaring tunes in your ear buds to drown out all that other noise.  Did you know that 28 million people have impared hearing caused by noise?

So today, give your horn a break unless you are in some serious danger.  No friendly good-bye honk.  No HEY I am here honk.  No YOU ARE AN INSANE DRIVER honks…just blow them a kiss as you drive by.

Are you a honker?
What is the honkiesthorniest…ummmm nevermind.
Ever been to Philly?  They honk a lot.

It’s my girlfriend’s birthday today.  I would like to send a thank you out to her parents for doing the dang thang and making me a princess.
